How did this "portraits of PhD students" project come about?
At LAMIH, we wanted to produce these portraits, because our PhD students are part of the Lab's lifeblood and it was natural for us to highlight them. It was also important for us to put these young people in pictures to motivate other students to do a thesis in the Labs. Students in bachelor's, master's or engineering courses don't always know what a thesis is, what kind of research you can do and that there are significant testing facilities in the labs.
How did the production process go?
Accompanied by DNUM, together we defined the framework and challenges of the portraits. This was followed by meeting sessions with the PhD students, script writing, filming and post-production phases. It was great to be able to let ourselves be carried along by DNUM insofar as we sensed a great deal of professionalism and interest on their part in what was to be put into images.
